The Level 1 BETA runs from November 4th-30th. Watch the video and read below for full details on the certification and beta launch.
The Level 1 Certification serves as the starting point for your esports coaching career. Whether you are a professional player looking to transition into coaching or a high school teacher with no experience in esports, this certification was developed for you. This certification will take approximately 6 hours to complete, and it covers the foundational elements needed to be an effective coach:
- The duty of a coach
- How to properly plan, supervise, and run practices.
- How to maximize player skill development.
- Developing your personal coaching philosophy.
- Building team culture.
All of this material will be delivered through a mixture of short videos, scenarios, quizzes, and written assignments. BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Possessing a basic understanding of at least one esport will greatly enhance your ability to engage with this course and learn from the concepts presented here.
- We strongly recommend you invest at least 10 hours playing and learning an esports title before taking this certification or coaching a team.
- If you don’t know what game(s) you’ll be coaching yet, we recommend starting with Overwatch 2, Rocket League, or Valorant as they are all common esports titles that are free to play.
- You do not need to be a game expert to take this certification or to coach. If you know how to queue into a match, watch a match and understand who is winning, and can describe the basic elements of the game, you are ready to begin.
